This year's Blue and Gold Banquet will be held on Sunday, March 18th beginning at 5pm.
It will be held in the Family Life Center at Sheridan Lutheran Church, 70th and Old Cheney, Lincoln, NE.
The Blue and Gold Banquet is intended to be a celebration of Boy Scouts of America's birthday, which is actually February 8th. We moved our banquet back to March this year to give the boys extra time to complete their rank advancement requirements and also because January and February are busy months with the Pinewood Derby and Zoo Campout events.
Our Pack also uses the Blue and Gold Banquet as a time to celebrate the boys that have earned their Arrow of Light award and are crossing over into Boy Scouts. This is a special ceremony performed by the Order of the Arrow Ceremony Team in which the scouts where Chief Akela determines if they are worthy of crossing over into Boy Scouts. Representatives from the Troop they are joining are also present to welcome the boys into the troop during the ceremony.
Most of the boys will have earned their rank advancement by this time and those rank badges are awarded in a special ceremony where we ask the parents to come forward to pin the badge on their son and to honor the parents' dedication to helping their scout achieve his new rank.
There will be a catered meal served that will include BBQ smoked brisket and pulled chicken and several side dishes as well as cake for dessert.
The general program will be as follows:
5:00 PM Welcome and Flag Ceremony
5:15 PM Arrow of Light Crossing Over Ceremony
6:00 PM Dinner
6:45 PM Rank Advancement Award Ceremony
7:30 PM Closing Flag Ceremony and Dismissal
